Wood Speaks — Gilded Currents: Strata

Strata is a 12 × 12 mixed-media wood disc from the Wood Speaks — Gilded Currents collection, a series inspired by the organic rhythm of wood grain and the way movement emerges naturally from layered structure.

Built through transparent glazes, gilded metallic accents, and flowing pigment, the surface develops depth and luminosity that changes as light moves across it. Each layer is sealed in a clear finish to amplify dimension, allowing the color transitions and metallic highlights to breathe.

The composition reflects natural strata, currents of color that echo geological layering and fluid motion. The result is both grounded and energetic: a visual conversation between wood, light, and movement.

Designed to hang on the wall, Strata functions as a sculptural color study, intimate in scale yet visually expansive. No two pieces in the series are alike, preserving the individuality of the wood and the hand-applied process.
