Hatteras Saltworks collects its ocean water by boat in Hatteras inlet.  After collecting the source water it’s transported, filtered and evaporated in hoop houses in Buxton. The Sea Salt is hand picked in our NCDA approved packaging facility. This is when we break down the crystals and have a final drying in our Solar ovens. Each bag is packaged by hand and either brought to market or sold online. In all aspects of our process, we keep our Solar Evaporated Sea Salt as pure and natural as possible. Hatteras Saltworks believes that slow solar evaporation is the best method of reducing salt water for mineral retention, texture and flavor to capture the pure essence of the source. “Pure nutrient rich ocean water, yields pure nutrient rich ocean salt.”
